Bastinado – My continued learning and enjoyment of impact play

It can be difficult to understand how someone can be passionate about the same things for a sustained length of time and still find it enjoyable. Careers often are formed or abandoned based on the fear of combining passion and pleasure with growth and development, similarly kinks and fetishes can be enjoyed and expanded in levels if satisfaction over time.

One of this week’s tasks focused around impact play, i was happy to have the opportunity to participate in something i enjoy, but made sure first to research something new that might increase my knowledge and experience in the fetish.

I rolled a 5 and 4 which gave me bastinado and 40 swats. I think i may have flogged my feet before but i never really looked up what bastinado means or the typical practices. I read that it usually involves restraining of the limbs and then applying impact to the soles of the feet. I read about the many different bones in the foot, muscles and tendons and looked for safety concerns.

My only safety concern was around a lack of feeling that i have on the top of my left foot and the metal plates and screws that hold my ankle together, so i decided to test two things first, my accuracy to ensure i hit the mark each time, and testing each foot to see if in fact the nerve damage i have in my foot affects the soles of my feet. I was able to feel the same pressure in each, but i also have issues with my left hand so accuracy was a problem. I was able to adjust my grip, and use slightly less force to get similar results on each foot and moved ahead.

I have never been restrained during impact before, it was a different feeling and mentally put me in a slightly different frame of mind, from a vulnerability perspective i was aware of the inability to move freely. As i felt the impact of the swats, i felt a desire to wiggle my toes and to stretch my limbs and i could not adjust my position because of the ankle restraints.

During the scene i focussed intently on the technique and safety, but i was also aware of my lack of movement which made me feel that more of my body than simply my feet were involved. It was a different sensation from impact in other areas of my body, it was exciting and my pulse and breathing quickened, and i expected afterward to maintain that feeling. I was surprised though that the feeling did not remain, the sting did not last as with other forms of impact play, and i was able to walk freely almost immediately after.

The initial excitement that reverberated through my body and lack of sustained feeling after made me think this is not impact play i enjoy casually, but would be interested to see the effects of a longer session involving more swats, over a longer period of time.
