BDSM Education BDSM Myths

People who engage in BDSM are all promiscuous

I was looking up a lot of sites and forums on the internet and picked my brain for the last days on how to approach this myth.
There are no facts or studies about this anywhere i looked. Probably i have missed something because i tend to not see things that are right in my face ?

According to an article of 2015 (which doesn’t feel that long ago..) researchers found out, the number of people who are into BDSM is somewhere between 2 and 62 percent.
So this tells me people don’t really like to reveal if they are in the scene or not. BDSM is still a taboo subject for most. They don’t want to be found out because they fear the loss of their image, friends, status maybe even family.
Being a promiscuous person is the same i think. Most don’t want to be disreputable and in our time this happens really fast with facebook, twitter and co. Women may have an even harder time when they are “under a cloud” (Not sure if that’s the right term)
When someone is promiscuous it means they have sex frequently with different partners or are indiscriminate in the choice of sexual partners.
So who defines that someone is promiscuous? How many sexual partners are needed in like a week to be allowed to call one out. And is someone still promiscuous when they stop to have sex at all for some time?
What i want to say with this that it all depends. We are all different. Every person is rare so i don’t really like myth like that: People who engage in BDSM are all promiscuous.

They may have a time, where they get into BDSM, want to try out kinks and have a lot of different partners. And even then they may not have sex with every person.
This goes right into another myth of BDSM: The BDSM community revolves only around sex. That’s not true at all!
It’s the same as when you say, every refugee that comes in our country only wants to steal our jobs and are criminals.
You can’t put everyone in the same drawer only because you have heard rumors or myth. But that’s what people are doing. They love to have chit chat about stuff they barely have knowledge about because it’s easier that way instead of researching on their own.
I also wanted to make another comparison. That everyone likes pizza. But then there is pizza hawaii xD (sorry lol)

In the end i just wrote what i thought, so i don’t know if this is accurate or if this is a fail.
