You only get one chance to make a first impression, going to a party can make you question how you want to present yourself. Simple rule is dress for how you want others to approach you, the mood, the topics, all can be determined by how you dress.
Consider how you view others at the party, you can tell who is ready to dance and who is ready to contemplate the meaning of life by the presence of lace and tweed.
It doesn’t mean you need to worry about how you dress, in fact just the opposite. Decide the mood you are in and how you want others to approach you. Then decide if what you are wearing says everything you want to say. It’s that simple.
