Many subs enter our group with the aspiration of being mentored by a Domme, but what does that actually mean?
Lets start with what a mentor is, kinky or vanilla. A mentor is someone to look up to, someone to reach out to for help and guidance. Someone who looks after the person they are mentoring and helps them make good decisions.
A Mentor/sub relationship isn’t necessarily a power exchange relationship in most BDSM context’s. In some scenarios a sub can mentor a sub, or a Domme a can even Mentor another Domme.
In the case of our dungeon, there is a power exchange within a Mentor/sub dynamic. It is an mutual consensual agreement that the Domme takes on full responsibility of a sub, and the sub acts as a kind of a representative for their Mentor. The sub enters the power exchange trusting that their Domme Mentor will guide them in their journey in the dungeon, as well as the lifestyle in general.
The power exchange between a Mentor and sub in our group expands to some of the following, a dedicated relationship that is focused personal development of the sub, personalized Protocols, if/when a sub can play or orgasm, their punishments, holding them accountable, supporting them, and more!
A mentorship is not a romantic relationship, and it doesn’t mean the sub will be guaranteed play time, the intent of the relationship is for, the Domme to Mentor you, not dispense kink for you.
Not many are lucky enough to make it into our Dungeon, and even fewer make it past the trial and earn the privilege of being mentored. It is an honor and something that any sub who achieves, should be proud of.
