Women are amazing in every way. Without them none of us would be here for starters. Some of the strongest people i know are women and to be honest the positive outlook and nurturing nature of many warms my heart daily. Life can be a roller coaster ride on a good day yet the elegant smile on a woman’s face seems to be always there, even if it is just under the surface. Many times a sincere smile will allow you to glimpse it and it will light up the room.
Appreciation is something that means such different things to each individual and some acts of kindness can be taken wrongly so when I show my appreciation to women that I don’t know well I try to be polite, helpful, respectful and courteous. Holding a door or helping with a bag is just the right thing to do and then moving away from the situation with a smile. I was raised with basic principles and showing respect was definitely one of them. Growing up with a single mom also taught me just how wonderful women can be so it is easy to offer sincere appreciation.
With those women in my life that I am close with I tend to be their rock, the safe place they can come to talk about anything or call if they need anything. For those that are in this close circle of family and friends they know that there is very little that I wouldn’t do to help them in every way possible. One thing that has only taken me almost 40 years to understand is how much certain things mean to some people and women seem to appreciate things like remembering birthdays and events more than most of the guys i know so i try to reach out on all of the important dates and remind them that I do appreciate them. Also a random “hello, how are you doing?” is a great reminder that they are in your thoughts.
We seem to be in the midst of a time where common decency and mutual respect are not common at all. While this saddens me and breaks my heart at the disrespect shown to others it has also strengthened me in a way to try to make a difference, one situation at a time. I can’t control what others do but I definitely can do my part to break the cycle and leave those that cross my path with a more positive and hopefully more cheerful feeling.
